about

Formed from ambient sounds recorded in the Zimbabwean rural areas (kumusha) between 2013 and 2019 while learning mbira from great people.

The track is trying to capture the particular rhythm and sound quality in the countryside; how you can hear both near and far voices and sounds within a round hut, male and female voices, people just causually playing mbira for themeselves, playing in a group outside, mbira hits and the clientele at the bottle store. And the birdsong! in the morning, in the evening, outside and inside (pigeons nesting).

The trajectory of the track is from early morning, birds, chickens, very distant voices, through the day to the dead of night when the nightjar calls.
