Having had the idea of merging celtic music and mbira together as explained in Track 3, when I heard the tune My King Has Landed in Moidart played on the TV some years later, I immediately heard mbira behind it and recorded a brief demo.
This then morphed into the idea of a post appocalyptic survivors' radio station broadcasting from the glens, combining parts of traditions and tunes that people gathered there from all over the world remembered and recreated in a new way.
Part of the original pipe tune has mutated into a 21 beat sequence, matched by three mbira parts composed by myself (bass and two treble), while traditional arabic rhythms Turran and Al Ashrin play underneath.
Static and interference are inherent to recieving the signal as isolated commuities tune in to this message of hope.
At the end you can hear versions of the reel Eight Men of Moidart, supposedly danced on the sea shore when Bonnie Prince Charlie retured to Scotland at Moidart in 1745, the inspiration of the original pipe tune composed by John MacIntyre of Rannoch.
